Hiking

Exploring History Through Adventure

At ARK academy, we believe that learning extends beyond the classroom. Our annual hiking visit to a historical place is a unique blend of adventure and education, offering students a hands-on opportunity to explore the rich tapestry of our past while enjoying the great outdoors.

Destination: Gari

This year, our chosen destination is an ancient fort of the native tribe of Sikkim i.e. Lepcha tribe, a site renowned for its historical significance and natural beauty. Nestled in Pakyong District, this area offers a captivating glimpse into "the battleground of a pivotal war," and "the heritage of indigenous cultures".

Educational Objectives

Historical Understanding Students will delve into the history, learning about its origins, key events, and its impact on the present day. Guided tours and interactive sessions with historians will provide a comprehensive understanding of the site.

Cultural Appreciation The visit offers a chance to appreciate the cultural heritage preserved at the site. Students will explore architecture, and stories that reflect the diverse cultural influences that have shaped the region.

Environmental Awareness The hiking aspect of the trip emphasizes the importance of environmental stewardship. Students will learn about the local ecosystem, the importance of conservation, and the ways in which historical sites and natural landscapes are intertwined.

Discover Your Talents and Creativity

Every Saturday, we provide specialized enrichment sessions for kids in grades 4 through 8. These programs are intended to nurture students' creative and artistic abilities, offering them a fun and engaging opportunity to develop new skills and hobbies.

Social Awareness

As on 3rd June,2024, NGO (Anugyalaya) Diocese Social Service Society, Darjeeling held a resourceful awareness session in ARK Academy, Pakyong. It was led by Mr. Tez Kumar and his team, making aware about the ‘Online safety’ and ‘Child Parliament’. The information covered during this session about the internet can be said that the disadvantages overwhelm the advantages. The responsibility to be safe falls on the users themselves. One needs to stay aware and perform regular security check on their network and devices to ensure they are secure from any online attacks.

Celebrating Environment Day with a Green Initiative

We are committed to fostering environmental awareness and responsibility among our students. This year, in honor of Environment Day, we are excited to announce a special Plantation Drive involving students from Class 1 to Class 8. This event aims to teach our students the importance of environmental conservation and the impact of their actions on the planet.
